Inspirational Thought: Finally, we have our day in court, or maybe a hearing sounds nicer. On Tuesday, January 28, at 7:00p, the zoning board will hear from Our House and either approve or not. As you recall, Our House, a developmental skills day facility for autistic individuals, will be leasing out the ground floor of our facilities. I am hoping that we will have a good showing from our church attending the meeting. This will speak volumes of how we support Our House and how it will enrich our ministry in our community. There might be a chance for us to say a few words on the benefits of Our House leasing space in Our House. What a tremendous opportunity with which our church has been given to revitalize in areas that we never thought of. Having Our House with us will open amazing possibilities to enhance our ministry for years to come. What have I learned from this experience of waiting? Well, even if the zoning board declines action, I have learned that waiting is part of God’s plan. There is power in waiting on the Lord who will renew us in a time such as this. What time? The Lord’s time! According to scholars, Kairos (Ancient Greek: καιρός) is an ancient Greek word meaning the right, critical, or opportune moment. The ancient Greeks had two words for time: chronos (χρόνος) and kairos. The former refers to chronological or sequential time, while the latter signifies a proper or opportune time for action. The Lord knows what we need when we need it. Can we rush the Lord? Why should we? It there was a possibility that we could, just think of what we would miss on the journey. For, I have found, that the journey is not the end result, but how we get there. I hope to see as many of our congregants as possible at this very important meeting, for this long-awaited Kairos moment.

Have a great week,

Pastor Dan

Prayer of the Week: Lord, we are remembering how you took care of your people throughout the ages and how you take care of us. You lead your people through the wilderness, provided for their physical and emotional needs, and provided a new way of being. Help us, in a time such as this, to be assured that your rod and staff provide the right stuff that we need to follow where you lead. May we truly see your hand of mercy working in our midst as we meet with the zoning board of Livingston. May your will be done; through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Chili/Soup Cook-Off!

The Evangelism and Membership Team is proud to announce our 8th Annual Chili/Soup Cook-Off on Sunday, February 2nd, in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Please bring enough of your best chili and/or soup so everyone who attends will have a chance to sample your recipe and vote on their favorites. Coffee and desserts will also be served. This event is open to anyone, so please invite your family and friends.

If you would like to participate by preparing a pot of chili/soup, please contact the church office, 973-992-2261.

It all started with a simple prayer, “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.” Souper Bowl of Caring is a national youth-led movement to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities, transforming the time around the Super Bowl into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.

Your monetary donation can make a difference in someone’s life by donating to Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors by February 2. (Please make your checks out to Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors). Thank you.

Annual Congregational and Corporation Meeting

If you have not yet turned in your reports, please email them to me ASAP!
